Purpose

This policy defines the mandatory fuel requirements for all Decoflame Net Zero Fireplace products supplied in Australia and New Zealand. It applies to all authorised Decoflame resellers, installers, and service partners.

Approved Fuel Requirement

All Decoflame indoor and outdoor ethanol fireplaces must only be operated using:
• Odourless 94%–96% ethanol fireplace fuel
• Fuel that is methanol-free, MIBK-free, Bitrex-free and hydrocarbon-free

Use of any other fuel type is strictly prohibited.

This includes (but is not limited to):
• Scented or perfumed ethanol fuels
• Industrial or laboratory ethanol
• Fuels outside the 94%–96% ethanol range
• Fuels containing additives, denaturants, or colouring agents

Technical and Safety Rationale

Decoflame fireplaces utilise advanced BEV (Burning Ethanol Vapour) technology, precision burners, pumps, sensors, and electronic control systems. Non-approved fuels:
• Corrode burners and fuel lines
• Damage pumps, sensors, and electronic components
• Create unsafe combustion conditions
• Lead to premature system failure
• Increase fire and operational risk

Warranty Implications

Use of non-approved fuel will:
• Automatically void the manufacturer warranty
• Void any Decoflame Extended Care or extended warranty coverage
• Exclude the product from all warranty repairs or replacements

Any service inspection that identifies non-compliant fuel use will result in the matter being treated as a non-warranty service call. All costs will be chargeable to the customer.

Reseller Obligations

Authorised Decoflame resellers must:
• Clearly communicate approved fuel requirements at point of sale
• Ensure installers brief customers at handover
• Avoid recommending or supplying non-approved fuels
• Display or provide approved fuel guidance to customers
• Ensure sales, service and installation teams comply with this policy

Failure to communicate this requirement may expose customers to safety risk and invalidate warranty protections.

Recommended Best Practice

Decoflame strongly recommends that resellers:
• Stock or formally recommend a compliant ethanol fuel
• Provide written fuel guidance at installation handover
• Direct customers to Decoflame-approved fuel solutions where available

Policy Enforcement

Decoflame reserves the right to decline warranty claims, suspend service coverage, and recover costs where non-compliant fuel use is identified.

This policy forms part of Decoflame’s authorised reseller obligations.
